Tanner Lott wins Mother Club Fall Curling Classic


Tanner Lott (Winnipeg Beach, MB) wins the Mother Club Fall Curling Classic, defeating Mark Fenner (Blaine, USA) 6-5 at the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. Lott with Colton Lott at third, Kennedy Bird and Wade Ford on the front end take home the $1,800CDN first place cheque along with 30.600 world ranking points, while Fenner receives $1,300CDN and 22.440 world ranking points for their second place finish.

Starting with hammer, Fenner scored 1 in the first end, then forced Lott to a single in the second end. Fenner scored a single in the third end, after which Lott responded in the fourth end scoring 4 to break open the game. Fenner scored a single in the fifth end to cut the deficit to 5-3, then forced Lott to a single in the sixth end. Fenner scored a single in the seventh end, then added a steal in the eighth end but it wasn't enough as Lott went on to win 6-5.

In the semifinals, Lott defeated Dennis Bohn (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 8-6 in an extra end and Fenner defeated William Lyburn (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 5-2. Bohn and Lyburn earned $1,000CDN and 17.340 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Lott defeated JT Ryan (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 5-3, Fenner defeated Tyler Drews (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 6-4, while Lyburn defeated Ty Dilello (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 5-2 and Bohn defeated Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 8-2. Drews, Calvert, Dilello and Ryan earned $725CDN along with 12.240 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes.

Lott went 3-1 in the 16 team round robin pools qualifying round. In their opening game, Lott defeated Steen Sigurdson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) 4-2, then won against Dilello 7-2, and against Travis Bale (Winnipeg, MB) 8-5 before dropping their final qualifying round match 8-4 to Calvert.
