Jeff Guignard wins Prestige Hotels Classic
![]() Jeff Guignard (Vancouver, BC) wins the Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic, defeating Adam Cseke (Kelowna, BC) 4-3 in an extra end at the Vernon Curling Club in Vernon, Canada. Guignard with Daniel Wenzek at third, Chris Faa and Nicholas Meister on the front end take home the $5,000CDN first place cheque, while Cseke receives $4,000CDN for their second place finish. Starting without hammer, Guignard forced Cseke into scoring 1 in the first end, then score a single in return in the second end, before adding a steal in the third end to take the lead. Cseke scored a single in the fourth end to tie the game at 2. then added a steal of their own in the fifth end to lead 3-2. After blanking 2 ends, Guignard was forced to a single in the eighth end, but added another steal in the extra end for the win. In the semifinals, Guignard defeated Dean Joanisse (Maple Ridge, BC) 8-6 and Cseke defeated Tyler Tardi (Langley, BC) 6-4. Tardi and Joanisse earned $2,000CDN. Guignard went 3-0 in the 8 team triple knockout qualifying round. In their opening game, Guignard defeated Matthew McCrady (New Westminster, BC) 4-3, won against Joanisse 8-3, and finally Tardi 7-4 in their A Qualifier match. |
