Glenn Howard wins Huron ReproGraphics Oil Heritage Classic

Glenn Howard (Toronto, ON) wins the Huron ReproGraphics Oil Heritage Classic, defeating Brady Clark (Seattle, USA) 5-3 at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club in Sarnia, Canada. Howard with Adam Spencer at third, David Mathers and Scott Howard on the front end take home the $4,800CDN first place cheque along with 30.864 world ranking points, while Clark receives $3,400CDN and 24.250 world ranking points for their second place finish.

Howard opened the scoring stealing 1 in the first end, adding another steal in the second end. Howard and Clark traded singles in the next four ends leaving Howard with a 4-2 lead after 6 ends. Clark scored a single in the seventh end, with Howard scoring a single in the eighth end for the 5-3 win.

In the semifinals, Howard defeated Mark Bice (Sarnia, ON) 6-4 and Clark defeated Mark Kean (Woodstock, ON) 6-3. Kean and Bice earned $2,200CDN and 18.739 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Howard defeated Dale Kelly (Chatham, ON) 7-3, Clark defeated Todd Birr (Blaine, USA) 6-2, while Bice defeated Richard Krell (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) 5-3 and Kean defeated Wayne Tuck Jr. (, Strathroy, ON) 5-4. Krell, Tuck Jr., Birr and Kelly earned $1,100CDN along with 13.227 ranking points for their quarterfinal finishes.

Howard went 3-2 in the 20 team triple knockout qualifying round. In their opening game, Howard lost 6-2 to Scott Dunnam (Philadelphia, USA), responded with a 5-0 win over Birr, losing their next game to Tuck Jr. 7-3 dropping them into the C-event early. Howard responded with a 6-5 win over Rob Ainsley (Toronto, ON) and Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA) 5-4 to qualify for the playoffs.
