History might well have been different if John Morris hadn't moved to AB and set things in motion.

Meh. It's only the World's. Brier wins are the true indicator of greatness.

I think Ernie Richardson played in a few. Can't recall too many losses. Also Lyall Dagg.

Ernie did win the four of the first five Scotch Cups, starting in 1959 by Ken Watson of Winnipeg. THe first few events just featured a challenge of the Brier champion vs. the Scottish champion but eventually morphed to the current 12 team event.

Richardsons won in 1959, 1960, 1962 and 1963 but did not go undefeated in their four year odyssey. They lost one game in their final year. Lyall Dagg of BC won in 1964, while Hector Gervais of Alberta took the 1961 Scotch Cup.

Embarrasingly, Terry Braunstein of Manitoba, repping canada in 1965 in Perth became the first (of many) Canadian teams to fall at the hands of American Bud Somerville in 1965. Alf Phillips, Jr. would join Braunstein by losing the 1967 event. Ron "The Owl" Northcott won all his world forays, in 1966, 1968 & 1969 cementing his position as one of the greatest canadian curling teams of all time.

Who were the greatest canadian curling teams of all time. I won't go just by numbers of Briers or Worlds (obviously they help) but here's my own list:

1. Richardsons
2. Kevin Martin
3. Owl Northcott
4. The Howards
5. Ken Watson
6. Ferbey Four
7. Jeff Stoughton
8. Matt Baldwin
9. Don Duguid
10. The Saskatchewan Campbells

Cases for an upper top 10 position could be made for the following teams (Howard Wood, Reg Stone, Lyall Dagg, Brad Gushue's Olympic team, Pat Ryan, Rick Folk, Alan Hackner)

Please follow along. We are looking for teams that have gone to the world championships and have won it every time they have been there. Richardson and Dagg fall into that category.Gervais does not.
I know you like to mention something about Manitoba in every post you make, but Ken Watson had absolutely NOTHING to do with the 1959 Scotch cup.
You would fit in perfectly with modern day media, as you make up stories as you go. Carry on.

Hey Cub Reporter Guido and Guest from Hell;

Don't question my journalistic credentials until you're prepared to do the research.

Here's the link. Other than setting up the Scotch Cup after he retired from competitive curling, I guess you're right - Watson had nothing to do with the event!!!???

Maybe one day you'll learn something rathing than pretending you know it all - but then again there's tons of sickos with internet connections.

Technically, not undefeated, Dugie's record has this one blemish. The stars weren't aligned for him that year.

Rick Lang and team also dropped the curling ball in '75.

You're probably right, Fresca's i-net research indicated they're primary i-c numbers are from the same area!

Possibly, we'd enhance our women's squad!!!

I'll have a go for our Olympic mens squad

1. SKIP - Glenn Howard
2. 3rd - Wayne Middaugh
3. 2nd - Brent Laing or Martin's 2nd
4. Lead - Hebert or Saville

Alternate - Johnny Mo
Coach - K-Mart

(Pretty much Howard's team, huh?)

Ladies would be slightly different:

SKIP - Jennifer Jones
3rd - Iskiw or Schraeder
2nd - Rachel Homan, Sash Carter or Jill Officer
Lead - Askin

Alternate: Emma Miskew or Amber Holland
Coach: Gerry Richard or Rick Folk

Having Iskiw or Schraeder in JJ's lineup would give Team Canada tons more strength up the middle. However, it would reduce Jones number of hero shots cuz the ends would be more controlled vs. chaotic with Lawes missing key shots, etc.

Chemistry is very important to a successful team. Great Britian has tried the all star team in Olympics past, especialy 2006, and it failed miserably. The same would happen to Team Canada if they tried it.
