Wow, it's awfully disappointing to see what's happened to these curlers in the final. Crazy falls in the ice - Stefanie Lawton just threw a nice hack-weight tap for a chance to score 2, but the rock fell back so hard that she gave up a steal.
After seeing the great arena conditions on the Alberta live stream, and hearing positive reports on the ice in Manitoba, it must be crushing for the competitors to have to deal with mediocre-at-best curling club conditions.
And don't give me this "well, it's the same for both teams" b.s. It's unacceptable at this level of play.

congrats to michelle englot on winning saskatchewan..
feel bad for stefanie who loses the final for a 2nd straight year but she really died down toward the end there. started 4-0 and finished 5-3
she really seemed to be hurt by sherry in this event, who really did seem to struggle.
I kind of wouldnt be surprised if stefanie and sherry ended their partnership after thgis season

Well done Englot Team
Nice twist to this ending.. Englot has been so close and she finally makes it
Dunno about Team Lawton breaking up.. dont forget there's a couple of new-borns in the equation which may have affected their season
Go team Englot!!

I do hope Sherry and Stefanie try it again next year. From what I saw of the 1-2 game and the final; it was Sengler that was also really struggling and leaving the back end with some lower percentage shots.
Michelle has been to the Scotties many times mostly under her previous married name of Schneider and also was there in 08 when it was in Regina. Her second Materi was with her at the 08 Scotties and the Olympic trials in 2001.
A couple of weeks ago I would have said we need to send Lawton from Saskatchewan but Englot's team has been playing better since the start of the season and were by far the better team at the provincials.
If Lana Vey can curl anywhere close to the level she did when she was third for Jan Betker and they had that magical run in 07 losing to Kelly Scott in the final; this team could be right there at the end.

Which Sherry?
Singler or Anderson? Didn't hear much of today's game, couldn't access the Sask C A website... even worse than the crap in Manitoba regarding coverage!

Where would Sherry Anderson go.. Lawton is the best Team up in Saskatoon and they have no reason to split up. Sherry is always in Top physical shape so she isnt about to retire for a while.

How 'bout this possibility.
If Amber Holland crashes & burns at this years Scotts cuz her team just isn't strong enough.....
Next year
Amber Holland - Skip
Stef Lawton - third
Sherry Singler - 2nd
Heather Kalenchuk - lead
Thats as tough a group of gals as I could imagine. Maybe its time for Lawton to step down and support a star skip rather than trying to keep banging her head on the ice, year after year!

That would be a good move. Lawton has choked since the juniors. She should try playing third.

Amber is a fantastic shooter but has a very weak team in front of her. Yes they won the Canadians last year and kudos to them but if you followed the 2011 STOH close Amber's play was suberb.
I would suggest that Amber has to also be concerned about the conditioning if her front end. It is quite obvious from a physical standpoint their conditioning is....to put it nicely questionable, and when you watch them sweep they do not have the stamina.
Amber is a world class curler and needs to get on baord with some other world class curlers. Lawton would be a good fit?

finally
someone said it..
trouble is ..work..and distance to get the curlers together.
Kronau is SE of Regina..which is a long way from Lawton's city of Saskatoon.
I was also quite surprised at the apparent "conditioning" of her front end..
Maybe they have hit the fitness routine again.. guess we'll see soon..

Amber lives in Regina... not Kronau... The Schneider's are the ones with the Kronau connection.
What about Kaitlyn Lawes moving to Regina to be with her bf DJ.....

That is a possibility.. but I would think it would be more likely that Lawes would stay with her Manitoba team, because there is always the chance Jennifer Jones would move to Ontario to be with Brent Laing. Lawes, Officer, Askin and Clark-Rouire did quite well at the Victoria Curling Classic without Jones.
