2012 Quebec Scotties Tournament of Hearts
The field is set for the 2012 Quebec Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The tournament will see eight teams competing to represent the province at the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer. A new qualification process reduced the number of teams in the provincial from ten to eight. Four teams qualified through Quebec Championship points, and four teams qualified as regional representatives. The change in the qualification process means there is no defending champion berth.
The eight teams, who will compete for the Quebec title are:
1. Marie-France Larouche
2. Kim Mastine
3. Allison Ross
4. Julie Hamel
5. Siân Canavan
6. Nathalie Gagnon
7. Marie-Christine Cantin
8. Hélène Pelchat
Two teams notably missing, last year's runner up and former Quebec champion, Chantal Osborne, and former champion Eve Belisle. Both teams are taking the year off from competition.
The Quebec Scotties begins January 25.

Kim Mastine could be a challenge.. she finished third in round robin play last year, a head of Eve Belisle before losing the 3-4 game to Belisle

Bad news
What a shame the field is so slim in QC.. seems to be a real drop in competitive spirit there
Gotta hope MF Larouche steps up her game from her 0-3 bombing in Brantford at the Sun Life..

you got to remember that marie-france is without both annie lemay and nancy belanger now. They had been with her for a long time.she's got an entirely new team with her.
Even still by the time quebec provinicials roll around they should have been together long enough where they can win quebec.

Larouche does have Brenda Nicholls, who was playing third for Belisle, and has represented Quebec at the Scotties as a skip.
We can't count out some of these teams, I previously mentioned Kim Mastine, but there is also Marie-Christine Cantin, who lost the tie breaker to Belisle last year. In round robin she beat Larouche 8-5, so it's hard to say who will come out on top in Quebec!

true that she has experience but its not experience with marie
brenda is probably just about the best 3rd she could have picked up to play for her this season but i feel she's still not as strong as annie or nancy.
we'll see, i just think that marie-france is a cut above everyone else when she's playing well but if she isnt than allison or kim will probably come though
