 Which nations will qualify for the olympics?

Half the olympic points have been given after this years world championships. The other half will be up for grabs at the 2013 worlds. Which countries will we see in the olympics 2014? basically any country can still qualify for the 2013 worlds and therefore for the olympic qualification event. So no country is completely out of it yet.

Mens points:

Canada 14, Great Britain 12, Sweden 10, Norway 9, New Zealand 8, China 7, Denmark 6, USA 5, Switzerland 4, France 3, Germany 2, Czech Republic 1.

Womens points:

Switzerland 14, Sweden 12, Canada 10, Korea 9, USA 8, Great Britain 7, Germany 6, Denmark 5, Russia 4, Italy 3, China 2, Czech Republic 1.

All nations above are at least guaranteed a spot at the olympic qualification event. as well as the korean Men and Norwegian women who particpiated in the 2011 worlds.

Russia gets a guaranteed spot both in men and women. Also, a lot has to go wrong for this years world medallists for them not to qualify.

 Talking As the PACC specialist on CZ...

I think the Chinese Ladies Team should be in. You could say that the Mens and Womens Teams swapped roles for the 2011/2012 season. Worse case scenario is that the Chinese Ladies will need to play in the last chance tourney to make it to Sochi.

I would worry if I was the Japanese Curling Association. Both genders are hard pressed to make it to Sochi based on 2 straight years of non World Championship competition.

Fortunately, for the PACC region, the upcoming worlds for the next 2 years are not slated in this area so 2 nations will qualify for the WCs. (The only concern is that its China and Korea/Japan for the Women and New Zealand/Korea for the Men.)

On the mens side, the emergence of New Zealand will eliminate any slim hopes that Hugh Milliken will represent Australia in any post regional championship that is not a Sr. Curling Championship.

BTW, Kazahkstan and Mongolia have applied to be PACC members...
